The United States has fractured into rival coalitions locked in a war for control and victory won’t be decided by armies alone. In Divided, players lead rival factions within two competing coalitions, waging war across a dynamic battlefield where your plans and positioning before each battle define every engagement. No two battles play the same; dice, cards, and unit types collide to create constantly shifting tactical puzzles, all resolved through simultaneous play where anticipating your opponent matters as much as outmaneuvering them.
Seize control of powerful global alliances, coordinate with your coalition, and unleash card-driven tactics that can swing the outcome of a battle or the entire war in a single turn. Play a scenario or build your own faction. How the war ends is up to you.
CORE MECHANICS
WHY YOU’LL LOVE PLAYING DIVIDED
-
You win as a team.
Divided is won through conquest or surrender. Your alliance wins by controlling every enemy Base State, or by forcing the opposing team to accept defeat before the map collapses around them. -
Setup is part of the game.
Set out the gameboard, faction boards, a few acrylic pieces and that’s it.There is no long pre-game faction build. All factions start the same. All asymetry comes from in-game decisions. The State Draft gets players making meaningful decisions immediately, creating asymmetry, rivalries, and table talk before the first battle even starts.
-
With our State Draft build your faction before the war begins.
Want Long Florida? A Great Lakes powerhouse? Texas the Lone Star State all by itself? Do it. In the State Draft, players are given a set amount of starting capital then in sequential order make 1 choice.
Spend capital to claim states, buy & place a unit, or pass and save capital for later. Go tall, go wide, build around your rivals, and start the game with a faction that already feels like yours. -
You are never fighting alone.
Divided is built around coaltiion play. Your faction belongs to a coaltion with other factions. Your teammate can support your battles, protect key states, and swing critical moments with Contingency cards. These cards can be played at any time if their trigger is met. The best teams coordinate pressure, bait responses, and decide when one player should sacrifice so the coalition can win. Will you save your cards for yourself or help your allies? You decide. -
You are always engaged.
Divided keeps the game moving by letting players handle shared tasks at the same time. Everyone collects capital, draws cards, curates their hand, and buys units simultaneously. Decisions that affect the board, like movement and placing newly purchased units, happen in turn order so timing still matters. The result is less downtime, faster rounds, and more reasons to stay locked in. -
Play different roles in every war.
There isn't one "correct" way to play. Lean into overwhelming military force, build a card-driven strategy with Spec Ops, Drones or conventional decks each with thier own specialties.
Become your coalition's support player by reinforcing allies and coordinating powerful Contingency cards and invest in the Alliance System, an asymmetrical tech tree that unlocks new abilities, powerful cards, and coalition-wide bonuses. While one teammate dominates the battlefield with units, another can become the strategic backbone, strengthening the entire coalition through the Alliance system and support cards. -
Every move shapes the battlefield.
Movement is Divided's strategic layer, determining where and when your plans unfold. Cards and Alliance abilities are powerful tools, but positioning decides when you can use them effectively. Units move at different speeds, creating a constant ebb and flow as players react, bait opponents, reinforce weak points, and push their front lines forward. The two movement sub-phases give every decision weight, advancing in one area may create an opportunity elsewhere, but it can also leave another flank exposed. And flanks matter in Divided.
Every new and unique state you attack or reinforce from grants advantages in battle. Movement doesn't just decide where battles are fought, it creates meaningful tactical advantages. -
Battles are where every decision comes together.
The cards you curated, the units you purchased, the alliances you developed, and the movement across the map all shape the fight before the first die is rolled. During battle, units wil roll dice for damage or give you more cards mid battle. Tactical and Contingency cards let you ambush, reinforce, repair, disrupt, and counter your opponents' plans. When multiple battles erupt across the map, a new layer of tension emerges: commit everything to secure one decisive victory, or spread your resources across several fronts and risk losing them all. Winning isn't just about the battle, it's about managing the entire war.
