ABOUT FUSION THEORY
WHO WE ARE
Fusion Theory is an independent game studio focused on strategy-first games built around conflict, consequence, and player agency. Our titles span different eras and genres, all set within a shared universe where ideas, themes, and outcomes carry forward rather than reset with each release.
Each game we create is driven by a singular creative vision and a clear lead. Collaboration plays a critical role, not by diluting that vision, but by challenging it. Ideas are expected to be questioned, defended, and refined through critique until what remains is strong enough to carry a full game. This process allows us to sharpen direction while maintaining coherence and intent.
Fusion Theory is led by Kenneth and Joey, whose skill sets are deliberately complementary. Kenneth brings a background in IT and systems thinking, with a focus on optimization, balance, and mechanical clarity. Joey comes from a CPG sales and strategy background, working at a broader scale building worlds, themes, and long-term vision. Together, one refines while the other expands; one pressures the details while the other ensures the whole holds together. Combined, they bring over 50 years of experience as players, designers, and strategists within the gaming space.
We are a people-first studio built on sustainable collaboration. We believe creative work deserves fair compensation. We design these games together, we play them together, and we build them with the same care and standards we expect as players ourselves.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Theme comes first.
Every game begins with clear thematic questions: what kind of world is this, what does power feel like within it, and how is that power used to achieve end goals? Theme defines the boundaries of the design space and constrains which mechanics are appropriate.
Story provides context, not decoration.
Narrative exists to give meaning to player decisions, not to decorate mechanics. Story explains why choices matter and why consequences feel earned.
Mechanics serve the world.
Systems are built to reinforce the theme and story. We do not force mechanics into a game if they contradict the fiction or dilute its tone.
Player agency is non-negotiable.
Players must always feel that their decisions matter. Outcomes should be the result of choices, not inevitability or hidden math.
Choices must be meaningful.
Every action should involve tradeoffs. If a decision is obvious, automatic, or risk-free, it does not belong in the game.
We explore complexity, then remove it.
We intentionally test systems at higher complexity to understand their limits. Once their purpose is clear, we simplify aggressively, preserving depth while cutting friction.
Simplicity is difficult… and worth it.
Elegant systems require more work, not less. We value clarity, flow, and ease of understanding over cleverness.
Brevity is the soul of fun.
Rules, turns, and interactions should be as short as possible without losing meaning. If something can be said or done with fewer steps, it should be.
Complexity must earn its place.
Depth should emerge from interaction, not accumulation. Complexity is valuable in small, deliberate amounts, enough to create tension and discovery, never enough to overwhelm. Complexity should invite mastery, not demand endurance.
We do not design for everyone.
We make games we want to play. Our games are built for players who enjoy agency, tension, and consequence. We would rather make a game some players love deeply than one everyone finds merely acceptable.
OUR WORLD
Together, these games form a shared world of strategy, reflecting our long-term creative direction rather than a fixed release schedule.
